Open Access Policy for the Journal of Marine Biotechnology and Immunology

The Journal of Marine Biotechnology and Immunology is dedicated to the principles of open access. We firmly believe that unrestricted access to scientific knowledge promotes the global exchange of ideas and facilitates pioneering research. Accordingly, our journal provides immediate open access to its content, adhering to the following policy:

  1. Immediate and Permanent Access: All articles published in the Journal of Marine Biotechnology and Immunology will be instantly and permanently accessible to the public. Readers worldwide can freely read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles without any restrictions.
  2. Licensing: To promote open knowledge sharing, we adopt the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license. Under this license, readers are free to:
    • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
    • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any non-commercial purpose.
    • The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
    • Under the following terms:
      1. Attribution - You must give appropriate credit , provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made . You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
      2. NonCommercial - You may not use the material for commercial purposes .
      3. ShareAlike - If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
  1. Author Rights: Authors retain the copyright to their work and grant the Journal of Marine Biotechnology and Immunology the right to publish the article under a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. This empowers authors to control how their work is used, ensuring proper attribution and fostering collaborative research.
  2. Article Processing Charges (APCs): The Journal of Marine Biotechnology and Immunology does not charge authors any fees for submitting and processing articles. However, upon acceptance, authors are required to pay a publishing fee (APC) of $50 or 600,000 Indonesian Rupiah per article. An invoice will be issued to the author upon acceptance, and the accepted article will only be published upon payment of the APC. These charges are utilized for maintaining DOI registration and covering the production costs of full-text PDF articles.

By adhering to this open access policy, the Journal of Marine Biotechnology and Immunology aims to make significant contributions to the advancement of marine biotechnology and immunology research. We are committed to fostering a vibrant scholarly community and enabling a global audience to engage with cutting-edge scientific discoveries.

Publication Frequency

The editorial policy of the Journal of Marine Biotechnology and Immunology mandates the publication of a minimum of 5 articles in every issue, with a total of 3 issues released annually, ensuring a steady flow of high-quality research and innovation in the fields of marine biotechnology and immunology

Peer Review Policy

The peer review process for submitted papers involves blind reviewing, where two reviewers are assigned to each paper. Authors can suggest potential reviewers, but the final decision rests with the editor. Authors are encouraged to use plagiarism detection software like Turnitin to assess manuscript similarity with other works. Based on the similarity level, the editor may reject the manuscript outright, request clarifications from the authors, or proceed with the peer review process. The final decision is made by the editor and the editorial board.

Archiving policy

This journal employs the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) system to establish a distributed archiving mechanism across participating libraries. These libraries are authorized to create enduring archives of the journal content, ensuring its preservation and enabling restoration efforts when necessary.

Editors are responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of the journal’s content. They are committed to:

  • Fair Evaluation: Ensuring unbiased, fair, and timely peer review processes for submitted manuscripts, free from any form of discrimination.
  • Confidentiality: Safeguarding the confidentiality of both the submitted manuscripts and the identity of reviewers, respecting the intellectual property rights of authors.
  • Transparency: Providing clear guidelines to authors about the submission process, review criteria, and publication policies.
  • Conflict of Interest: Declaring and managing any conflicts of interest, both personal and financial, and ensuring that such conflicts do not influence editorial decisions.

  • Objectivity: Conducting objective, constructive, and timely peer reviews, highlighting the manuscript’s strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Confidentiality: Respecting the confidentiality of the review process, refraining from discussing the manuscript with others without permission from the journal.
  • Conflict of Interest: Declining review assignments for manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest, ensuring unbiased evaluations.

In case of ethical concerns, such as plagiarism, data falsification, or authorship disputes, the journal will follow COPE’s guidelines. Appropriate actions, including corrections, retractions, or contacting institutions, will be taken to address such issues.
